I can hardly believe it but today Sweet Pea moved up a diaper size. I know that sounds like a silly thing to warrant any sort of attention, but it really is a milestone. It makes me think back to the first days he was home from the hospital and couldn’t even fit into a newborn diaper. Is that really possible that he was that small?! I see newborn babies and think to myself, did Sweet Pea ever fit into my arms like that? And of course the answer is yes, he did. He used to fit perfectly on my chest and snuggle so softly. Now my size-four boy doesn’t fit quite as well on my chest as he used to and he would much rather run and play than snuggle on the couch.
When he was first born people made fun of us quite a bit for how many pictures we took (and still take of him). But now I am more grateful than ever that I have those pictures to remind me that amid the sleepless nights I had a small baby nestled right next to me. I am excited about what growing up means. It means adventure and learning and conversations. But I am sad when I look back to see those infant days gone. It makes me hold onto today even more than I used to. My little boy will only be so small for a short period of time. Then he will be off conquering the world. All I can hope is that I am teaching him everything he needs to know to go out and be the best he can be.
Notice the socks in the picture. Those are newborn socks and they come up to his knees!!

My younger brother is a sophomore in high school and last night they had their homecoming dance. We got to go over and take pictures of them before they headed our for their night of fun! Enjoy the pictures and remember your own high school days!

So whenever we go to Starbucks, which sadly is not as often as I would like, I always have the barista make a small cup of water for Sweet Pea. He loves it! He walks around with his cup like Momma’s and thinks he is such a big man! Of course, most of the water either ends up on him or the floor. But it’s so much fun it is worth the mess. Have a look at all the fun:

Elmo went to see an orthopedic doctor today about his hand. No surgery! Yeah! They just moved the bone around a little bit (which was very painful) and then put a hard cast on. He has to go back in three weeks for a check up. They will take the cast off then to see if it is healing properly. If it is then the cast can stay off. If not, they will have to put another one on. So hopefully everything is healing like it should! So here are a few pictures of him in his cast. Guess who got to pick the color?!?!?

And in case you were wondering, he can still hold an XBOX controller.

We all go to bed at different times. Sweet Pea goes to bed first, then me, then Elmo. Elmo is more of a night owl and likes to have his alone time after we have gone to bed and the house is quiet. He normally spends his time reading, playing video games, or working on the computer.
Last night playing a video game was the activity of choice. He normally keeps a pillow nearby to bang on when he gets excited or frustrated about something that is happening in the game. Well…last night during an exciting moment in his game his hand didn’t quite make contact with the pillow. Instead it made contact with the floor. Yikes!
He came upstairs around midnight in so much pain I could tell we would probably be making a trip to the ER. We woke up poor Sweet Pea, loaded into the car and headed for the hospital. Four hours later, we had a friend come up to sit with Elmo so I could take Sweet Pea back home and put him back to bed. He was awake and cranky the whole time we were there. Elmo and his friend finally made it home at 7:30 this morning. Elmo sporting his splint and broken hand. He has to go into the doctor this week again to have it looked at and to put a permanent cast on instead of a splint.

This morning I decided it was time for a treat so we made pancakes! I mixed everything together while sitting on the kitchen floor so that Sweet Pea could help me out. We made the pancakes a little later than we would normally have breakfast so Sweet Pea needed something to distract him from his hunger. Helping me out was the perfect solution!
Here Sweet Pea is investigating what is in the bowl:

Here he is excited to show off what we are making:

Here he is helping stir the batter (note how most of it drips onto the floor):

Enjoying the fruits of our labor aka stuffing our face:

The bite from the previous picture is all in his cheeks:

The past few days Sweet Pea has really started to get interested in our clothes. Yesterday he went into Elmo’s closet and pulled out a pair of dress socks and wanted us to put them on him. So he walked around all evening with his Daddy’s dress socks pulled up to his thighs. Tonight he wanted to wear Elmo’s belt. So he walked around with that on for a while. I may be making a trip to Salvation Army to find some cheap male clothes and make a dress up box for Sweet Pea. What fun!
