Happy Halloween!!

October31

Yesterday the kid’s gym that Sweet Pea goes to had a Halloween party!! It was so much fun! We played a few games, won a few prizes, and then had free play on all the equipment. Sweet Pea spent a lot of time on the trampoline and in the bounce house. I wish we could play in one of those everyday…he was worn out!

The comic book store down the street from us was having a party this morning so we took Sweet Pea in his Batman pjs. The party turned out to be just a table with chips and soda, but Sweet Pea had fun playing with some toys.

The kids in their costumes! Sweet Pea was a puppy dog. Although if you asked him he was a cow. And Peanut was a bumble bee.

This was Sweet Pea’s first time to go Trick or Treating! It was so much fun to watch him. He was very excited to receive candy at each house. He kept asking us for “more candy?”!

This was Sweet Pea’s first time ever to eat candy! We let him dump out his basket and pick what he wanted. He picked a lollipop.

Yummy!!

Flashback Friday – Halloween

October30

Since Halloween is tomorrow I thought I would take a look back at some of the costumes my brother and I dressed up in.

Here we have a clown and a skeleton. I wonder if the skeleton was supposed to scare the clown or if the clown was supposed to scare the skeleton?

In this picture I think I was Laura Ingalls Wilder from Little House on the Prairie (right Mom?) and my brother was a cowboy…in converse shoes!

Ahhh good times!

Three Months Old!

October29

Little Peanut,

Today you are three months old. I started out this morning just snuggling with you in bed thanking God for my little girl. You bring so much joy to our lives.

You are really starting to recognize me, your dad, and your brother. Every time we pick you up to cuddle you bless us with a smile. When you are on the floor you are really starting to kick your legs and move your arms. You are trying really hard to roll over from your back to your front, but haven’t quite made it yet.

You are only three months old and already an expert traveler! You traveled for the first time over the state line to visit Nana and Papa. You also rode on a plane for the first time to visit your Papa and GG.

You have gotten yourself on a pretty consistent sleep schedule. You are normally asleep by eight in the evening and only wake up once to eat before waking up for the day at 7:30am. The only glitch in this system was when we were at Papa and GG’s house. The traveling threw you off and you didn’t sleep very well. You take your morning nap either in the car, your sling, or in the swing at home. This depends on what Sweet Pea is doing for the day. But you both nap in the afternoon around 2.

Here you are just being your cute self:

West Virginia Trip Part One

October28

Last Wednesday my mom and I loaded up the kids and headed to West Virginia to visit my grandparents! We woke them up at six in the morning and went straight to the airport. It was Little Peanut’s first airplane ride. She kept the other passengers very happy by sleeping the entire time.

We had a funny little incident with Sweet Pea. We were all lined up in the jet-way waiting to get on the plane and when it was our turn to get on he decided he didn’t want to! He kept trying to move backwards and said “I want to ride a smaller airplane!”. So my mom hopped on the plane to save us a row while I stepped to the side with Sweet Pea to talk to him. I finally just had to pick him up and get on hoping he would calm down. I think he was just afraid of the unknown  because once we got on he was fine.

For his entertainment we had books to read, a magna doodle to draw on, and and iPod full of Dora the Explorer and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The magna doodle was funny because he kept wanting my mom to draw him doors. So she got creative and drew every type of door you can think of! Toddlers!

Fall Trip_005

For those of you who have never traveled with babies it is quite the task! We had carseats, portable cribs, luggage, jackets, pillows, and pretty much anything else you can think of. I carried the baby in my wrap so I would have free hands to lug everything around. And thank goodness my mom was there or I never would have been able to do it!

Fall Trip_007

Once we arrived to the airport we rented a car and headed to my grandparents! We got there around four in the afternoon and Sweet Pea was ready to stretch his legs. So Papa took him downstairs to play ball while us girls watched from the balcony.

My mom and I found these awesome balloons at target for $2! After you blow them up you let them go and they shoot up into the air and make a rocket sound. We lost a few to the tops of trees and the roof. Sweet Pea loved them until my mom accidentally shot one into his face. :)

Fall Trip_015

Thursday was our day of rest. Sweet Pea helped Papa mix up some pancakes. Yummy!

Fall Trip_023

Then he helped Nana and GG mix up brownies.

Fall Trip_026

And he had to taste the mix. Of course the brownies that were supposed to last all weekend lasted the day. Every time we went by the tray we grabbed one. And I wonder why I can’t lose this last 20 pounds….

Fall Trip_030

We took a wonderful walk to look and the fall colors and animals:

Fair Day!

Sweet Pea had so much fun and wanted to ride EVERYTHING!

We took a gondola ride over the fair:

We spent a lot of time dreaming at the car show:

The fam:

Most of the rides Sweet Pea and I could ride together, but this one was too small so he rode by himself. This did not go well. He started out okay, but by the second turn he was crying to get off. So I asked the guy to stop it and let him get off and he did. Poor little guy.

Sweet Pea and Charles looking at the World’s Smallest Horse! (Apparently it was a regular sized pony in a really deep hole…lol!)

IMG_8764

On our way out…

IMG_8783

What a fun day!!! Sweet Pea keeps asking to ride the “green choo choo train” again. It’s hard to explain that the fair is over and we have to wait until next year.

The Duck Pond

October13

Baby Peanut’s blue mat has become the duck pond. And apparently the duck likes to eat eggs and peanuts. So Sweet Pea cooked some in his kitchen and then took a swim with the duck. I love his creativity!!

Formula Pancakes

October12

When Peanut was two days old we took her to her first doctor visit for a check up. I am breastfeeding so the doctor asked me if my milk had come in. I told her it hadn’t and she responded by telling me that I needed to supplement the baby with formula until my milk came in to make sure that she was getting enough nutrition and then proceeded to give us some cans of formula. And if you know anything about breastfeeding you know what a terrible idea that is. If you want your milk to come in faster you need the baby to nurse as much as possible. And it’s not like the baby is just drinking air until the milk comes in, they are drinking colostrum.

Anyways, Charles and I just looked at each other, said thanks, and left taking the formula with us. We knew that we would never use it but we couldn’t bring ourselves to throw it away (oh and we switched doctors….we can’t have a doctor that knows nothing about breastfeeding!!). So my aunt came up with this pancake recipe!

1 1/2 cups flour

1 3/4 t baking powder

3T sugar

whisk above dry ingredients and them mix seperately:

1 1/4 cup water with 3-4 scoops of formula

1 egg

Melt 3 T butter in the pan you will use to cook the pancakes. Whisk the melted butter into the formula and eggs. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir.

Make your pancakes!

Sweet Pea and I made them this morning and the were yummy!!
