Thanksgiving
We had a wonderful, whirlwind Thanksgiving. My parents drove down here Tuesday night. We got up Wednesday and followed them to Houston. Had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family, extended family, and extended extended family. We got up Friday morning and headed home.
We have spent yesterday and today trying to catch up on some sleep. Although the babies tend to have other ideas so really Charles and I have been walking around like zombies while they run around like crazy. Here are some pictures of the event.
We followed my parents on the drive and my mom had a good time taking pictures of us while in traffic:

Visit with Papa
Last week my dad was in town on business and we got to spend a lot of time with him! It was so much fun! We went out to dinner, went to the zoo, and the kids had a great time playing with Papa. Sweet Pea woke up every morning asking if we got to see Papa that day. I didn’t do the greatest job of taking pictures of his visit, but here is what I got:
Here are a few from the zoo. This is Sweet Pea at the huge fish tank:
Papa and Sweet Pea looking at animals:
Sweet Pea’s favorite area at the zoo was the Reptile House. Unfortunately my dad and I could have just passed on by. The things you do for your kids (and grandkids)…
The zoo has a great play area for kids. My dad had to take a conference call and I had to nurse the baby so this was a perfect stop!
My dad’s family lives near the zoo, so we stopped in for a visit on the way home.

My dad and Charles went to a Mavs game one evening after the kids went to bed. They had awesome seats and had a great view of the game. Good thing the Mavs won that night!
What a great visit with Papa! We love when he comes to town…so fun!
Two Things
1. The only reason Sweet Pea and Peanut sharing a room works so well is because Sweet Pea sleeps right through Peanut waking up to eat. Well, two nights ago when Peanut woke up for her three a.m. feeding Sweet Pea joined her in her middle of the night song. It was actually really funny because he jumped out of bed like it was morning time. I was trying to nurse her and get Sweet Pea to get back in bed. It was hard for him to understand that she just woke up to eat, not to play. Thank goodness Charles heard the commotion and came in to lay down with Sweet Pea. After Peanut was done nursing Sweet Pea was almost back to sleep and we were able to both go back to bed. Funny…and long night.
2. The last week or so Peanut has really started to move around more. I will lay her down in her crib and then come in to find her at a completely different angle. We are also starting to have to move things out of her reach because if she is sitting in your lap at the table she will grab for them. She is also starting to be semi-interested in toys. Which Sweet Pea thinks is really funny. We have started giving her this basketball rattle to play with and whenever Sweet Pea finds it on the floor he gets upset because he things she should ALWAYS want it. I am so excited about this stage, I love it when they become more mobile!
I Hope This Isn’t Us….
Today we took the kids to the mall to let Sweet Pea play at the play place. There is a Starbucks at the mall and my sweet husband decided to get us drinks with some of his birthday money.
The guy taking our order asked for a name so we said “Charles”. He casually mentioned that his first name was also Charles, but he went by his middle name. This led to a discussion about how he was named after his dad. He went on to tell us that he was glad he went by his middle name because he doesn’t like his father. The whole conversation made me really sad.
I think about when Sweet Pea and Peanut are older and move out and I hope and pray that they are never to the point where they will openly tell strangers that they hate us. It has caused me to really think about how thankful I am I have a good relationship with my parents and how I can have a good relationship with my kids. Lots to think about….
Thunderstorms Are Not My Friend
Thunderstorms are not my friend….neither are car horns. But coffee sure is!
Last night we had quite the storm here. I would have preferred to stay warm in my bed, but my kids had a different idea. Around three this morning the thunder woke Sweet Pea and he starting crying. Which in turn woke up Peanut. So I went in and laid down with Sweet Pea in his bed and Charles wrapped up Peanut and got her back to sleep. I stayed with Sweet Pea for a while until he calmed down. Every time it thundered he shuddered and hung on to me. I got back into bed around four. Then Peanut woke up to eat around six. What a night! Coffee is most definitely my friend…
Why Cloth Diapers Rock
Yesterday I was feeling stressed. The house is a wreck. The kids are really hyper! The baby seems to be sleeping a little worse. I am hoping it is just a growth spurt of some kind. So yesterday when I was at the store I grabbed some disposable diapers for the kids. We only have just enough cloth diapers to last us one day. So I am washing EVERY day. I figured this would be a perfect break to give myself. A weekend without having to wash diapers.
But the only glitch in my plan was that last night Peanut leaked right through the disposable and I had to change her clothes and her diaper in the middle of the night. When she woke up this morning she had a major blow out and there was poop all over her clothes and the crib sheets. So the joke was on me…I ended up having to do extra laundry anyway.
So all that to say that cloth diapers are AWESOME! No leaks, no blow outs, and much better for babies bum. And after using cloth for so long, using a disposable is weird. They smell funny, not clean.
And today is my husband’s birthday!!!! He is 28 and I love him and so glad he is part of my life!
