Sometimes I get a little jealous…

February8

My grandparents live in the DC area and I am sure most of you have heard that that area has been hit with a major snowstorm. After seeing the pictures I wish we were there! I want very badly to pick Sweet Pea up and throw him in the big pile of snow. He would have so much fun!!

The storm!

Disney Christmas

December31

Sorry for the lack of posting. We had a fabulous trip to Disney over Christmas week. Unfortunately, I have had this major headache since we got home. But I figured I should post about Christmas before the year is over.

We spent our first night at Chef Mickey’s, a fun buffet style dinner where the characters come right to your table. Sweet Pea was enamored with the characters. Whenever he saw one he had this goofy grin on his face that you couldn’t wipe off. He just stared until it was time  for them to move on. Peanut was so exhausted from traveling that she slept through the whole thing.

Turns out my dad is quite the baby whisperer. Every time Peanut was fussy he would grab her and she would conk out on his shoulder.

Here is Sweet Pea in our hotel room sporting a night gown that my aunt made for him. He started out in a crib by the bed, but ended up sleeping in the awesome king sized bed in our room. Both kids were so off in their sleeping while we were gone. I think they just knew they were not home. The good thing is when we got home they were both so relieved to be in their own beds they napped like champs.

One afternoon me, my brothers, my dad, and my papa went parasailing. So much fun! I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance. It’s an incredible feeling to be up so high.

Hats

December16

On Sunday we are leaving to go to Disney World for Christmas! We are so excited and really looking forward to the trip. Last week I was browsing stores on etsy and found these cute hats!!! I thought they would be the perfect way to keep the kids warm while at Disney!!! Josie, the store owner and maker of the hats, was amazing! She made them in one day so the kids could have them for our trip. Sweet Pea already  loves his and has been wearing it since we got it in the mail today.

Thanksgiving

November28

We had a wonderful, whirlwind Thanksgiving. My parents drove down here Tuesday night. We got up Wednesday and followed them to Houston. Had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family, extended family, and extended extended family. We got up Friday morning and headed home.

We have spent yesterday and today trying to catch up on some sleep. Although the babies tend to have other ideas so really Charles and I have been walking around like zombies while they run around like crazy. Here are some pictures of the event.

We followed my parents on the drive and my  mom had a good time taking pictures of us while in traffic:

Visit with Papa

November24

Last week my dad was in town on business and we got to spend a lot of time with him! It was so much fun! We went out to dinner, went to the zoo, and the kids had a great time playing with Papa. Sweet Pea woke up every morning asking if we got to see Papa that day. I didn’t do the greatest job of taking pictures of his visit, but here is what I got:

Here are a few from the zoo. This is Sweet Pea at the huge fish tank:

West Virginia Part Three

November3

My brother lives only a few hours by train from my grandparents so he took the Saturday night train in and when Sweet Pea woke up Sunday morning he found Uncle Ryan sleeping in the room with him! He went right to him and they went upstairs and played blocks and cars until breakfast. My mom made yummy pancakes and GG cut up strawberries.

After breakfast we took another walk. Gorgeous weather and scenery makes me want to walk there all the time!

West Virginia Part Two

November2

My mom and I went to West Virginia a few weeks back to visit family. I wrote about the first few days here and now I am on to Friday and Saturday of our trip!

My mom woke me and the kids up around 7:30 Friday morning. We threw our stuff and the kids in the car and headed off to my great-grandmothers house. This is about a five hour trip and we spoiled Sweet Pea by letting him watch Dora the Explorer and Mickey Mouse the whole time. We stopped for gas, a Starbucks coffee, and lunch at McDonalds (very healthy…I know) and made it to her house by two. Peanut did great. She slept most of the time and I got really good at nursing her while she was in her carseat.

My mom had a photographer come out to the house that afternoon to take pictures of the five generations. My great-grandmother has six great-great-grandchildren!!! I can’t wait to get the pictures back and be able to share them with everyone. Here are some pictures we took while we were there:

We spent Friday night at a hotel in town. Saturday morning we visited a little more with family and then headed back to my grandparents house. On the way back to their house we didn’t stop once!! Sweet Pea occupied himself with books and tv. I was again able to nurse Peanut while keeping her in the carseat. It was a quick trip but well worth it to see my great-grandma and other family.

Sweet Pea ended the long day with a fun bubble bath!

Part Three tomorrow…

West Virginia Trip Part One

October28

Last Wednesday my mom and I loaded up the kids and headed to West Virginia to visit my grandparents! We woke them up at six in the morning and went straight to the airport. It was Little Peanut’s first airplane ride. She kept the other passengers very happy by sleeping the entire time.

We had a funny little incident with Sweet Pea. We were all lined up in the jet-way waiting to get on the plane and when it was our turn to get on he decided he didn’t want to! He kept trying to move backwards and said “I want to ride a smaller airplane!”. So my mom hopped on the plane to save us a row while I stepped to the side with Sweet Pea to talk to him. I finally just had to pick him up and get on hoping he would calm down. I think he was just afraid of the unknown  because once we got on he was fine.

For his entertainment we had books to read, a magna doodle to draw on, and and iPod full of Dora the Explorer and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The magna doodle was funny because he kept wanting my mom to draw him doors. So she got creative and drew every type of door you can think of! Toddlers!

Fall Trip_005

For those of you who have never traveled with babies it is quite the task! We had carseats, portable cribs, luggage, jackets, pillows, and pretty much anything else you can think of. I carried the baby in my wrap so I would have free hands to lug everything around. And thank goodness my mom was there or I never would have been able to do it!

Fall Trip_007

Once we arrived to the airport we rented a car and headed to my grandparents! We got there around four in the afternoon and Sweet Pea was ready to stretch his legs. So Papa took him downstairs to play ball while us girls watched from the balcony.

Fall Trip_019

Fall Trip_017

My mom and I found these awesome balloons at target for $2! After you blow them up you let them go and they shoot up into the air and make a rocket sound. We lost a few to the tops of trees and the roof. Sweet Pea loved them until my mom accidentally shot one into his face. :)

Fall Trip_015

Thursday was our day of rest. Sweet Pea helped Papa mix up some pancakes. Yummy!

Fall Trip_023

Then he helped Nana and GG mix up brownies.

Fall Trip_026

And he had to taste the mix. Of course the brownies that were supposed to last all weekend lasted the day. Every time we went by the tray we grabbed one. And I wonder why I can’t lose this last 20 pounds….

Fall Trip_030

We took a wonderful walk to look and the fall colors and animals:

And The Vacation Ends…

October5

This morning we packed up the car, honked the horn good bye, and hit the road. I think everyone knew that the car ride home just isn’t as exciting as the car ride there. Sweet Pea was antsy from the start and wasn’t much interested in reading books like he did on the ride up. Little Peanut whined until she finally fell asleep. I let Sweet Pea watch tv on my phone almost the whole ride home so I wouldn’t have to hear him whine. When we did finally get home no one was here to greet us excitedly. Nope, the trip home just isn’t the same as the trip there. We weren’t ready for reality and we are already counting down the days until we see them again (it’s 11 in case you were wondering).

Another Great Day!

October5

After a breakfast of yummy pancakes and omelets we headed off to the fair! We browsed all the booths and looked at cakes in the cake decoration contest. Here we are sitting down to sample some apple fries. My mom has more pictures posted here.

IMG_8230

Then we headed to pick out some pumpkins to decorate Nana’s porch. Sweet Pea was such a great helper!
