In fact I think you guys will be just as close as you and your parents. But I will say honestly that they will probably go through stages... They will love you always until they hit their teens, they will be a typical teenager, and when they go off to college and are no longer under your wing, they will wish with all their might they were. I've noticed ever since I'm not longer dependent on my parents 100%, that I miss them terribly. I'm also thankful for the time I have to spend with them when we are together.
