Thunderstorms Are Not My Friend
Thunderstorms are not my friend….neither are car horns. But coffee sure is!
Last night we had quite the storm here. I would have preferred to stay warm in my bed, but my kids had a different idea. Around three this morning the thunder woke Sweet Pea and he starting crying. Which in turn woke up Peanut. So I went in and laid down with Sweet Pea in his bed and Charles wrapped up Peanut and got her back to sleep. I stayed with Sweet Pea for a while until he calmed down. Every time it thundered he shuddered and hung on to me. I got back into bed around four. Then Peanut woke up to eat around six. What a night! Coffee is most definitely my friend…
Sweet Pea and I have something in common! Yay! I remember this one time when I dropped Cory off at our apt. I decided I wanted Subway down the street. Out of nowhere it started POURING. It was crazy lightning and thundering. I was freaking out crying in my car with the radio blaring so I couldn’t hear the thunder. I think when I was little I got stuck on my parents boat a little ways from camp in a horrible storm and every since then I’ve been ridiculously scared of loud noises (thunder being one of the worst).
It *does* sound like a difficult night (and I LOVE coffee!), but at the same time, so sweet. I love the idea that I can comfort Iain and help him get through scary moments.
That said, I’m hoping for 8 solid hours tonight – and the same for you!
I hope you have better weather tonight..and that you get some sleep!
i feel the same way! i love love loved thunderstorms before kids- you know, when you can innocently take great naps and sleep in because you didnt want to leave your bed and the rain rocked you to sleep? yeah, i miss that…
